Australia is an enormous wine-producing country with over 1,000 wineries. Our family vineyards are located only on the highest banks of terra rossa soil, overlaying the cigar shaped limestone ridge of Coonawarra. The vines are grown without the use of chemical herbicides or insecticides. Every tiny aspect of the vineyard philosophy and design has been thoroughly, deliberately researched, planned and designed.
It is the various climates, soils and grape varieties that make Cotes du Rhone wines so characteristic, but more than geographical unity, perhaps, it is the desire and labour of the winegrowers that have given the wines their real personality and enabled the attribution of an AOC. The soil is the result of the combination of the vegitation and the climate over thousands of years. The Rhone has left a powerful markon the whole of the sedimentary basin.
Crafted from grapes that are frozen on the
vine, Icewine is elegant and flavorful. With a smooth sweet palate and balancing acidity. Our vineyards make up the western edge of the Beamsville Bench, a plateau of land considered by many to be one of the premier grape growing regions in Canada. The Beamsville Bench plays host to a multitude of unique mineral-rich soils and mesoclimates that influence the character of premium wines.
